Soft jaws on three jaw chucks facilitate jaw placement. These Hardness of jaws are clamped on master jaws via serrations and clamping bolts to turn the desired dia of jobs without damaging the soft material's outer dia. These jaws are turned intermittently to the desired dia of the job to be clamped in order to maintain accuracy.
